Dia De Los Muertes

BOO!

I am working on some face beads and spirit doll faces for my Etsy store.  They are still in the experimental phase.

And here we are in November already.

The Big Reveal, Tropical Pottery, ceramic flip flops, wall fish and mugs

Here is the finished kiln load we peeked into the other day.  All items came out A-Okay.  And those of you who have items ordered might see them here.

One of my blogger friends, Slipper Moon Studios, requested some face beads and spirit doll faces I think we are going to do a little collaborative project.  It should be fun.

Mystery

It's always a mystery when you get your first peek into a cooling kiln. You just get a sliver of a view.  There are clues to how successful your firing was.  This one looks okay so far, but the cooling process is a slow one and I will know more later.  Everyone have a great day.

It's all about the blue

The Clear Blue Wave

The colors of aqua, blue and white have been tugging my soul ever since I did the small blue tone painting Yesterday's Blues, during the 30 Day Challenge. As a frequent user of red, orange and yellow, this is a change for me.  I decided to take the change one step further and do a painting with no sky in it.  That was hard.  At the end I almost put in a horizon line, but I decide to stick with the parameters I set for myself at the start of the painting.

Once again I want to thank the artists who generously share their photos on Wet Canvas.

The Studios of Key West has a residency program and hosts 4 visiting artists a month.  Artists are provided with a free place to live and work. They start taking applications in January and I think they close the process in March.   So start planning now if you would like to be part of this huge opportunity.

TSKW  click the link to find out more information about the program and other classes and workshops.

And in other news this Thursday, October 17, from 6 to 9pm, 2013,is the TSKW monthly open house.  A new show opens in the main gallery, the artists studios are open upstairs and in the residence studios.
There are poetry readings in the 610 White St studios.

My studio will be open and I would love to see you.

No art supplies? Problem solved

Flowers in the Field

I am away from home with no art supplies but I am using my favorite art app on my I-Pad to stay engaged.  It is Paper 53. What I like about Paper 53: I can add and subtract layers.  It has a wonderful color mixing system. You can rewind and undo mistakes. The images just glow on the screen.  You can send them to your camera roll, tweeter and email them.  It works fine without a stylus, but I do have one.
On the minus side:
I do wish it had a couple more brush and line sizes.  You do need to pay if you want to get the most out of the app.  The file size is small and I think if you try to enlarge them they will be fuzzy.  I have not tried to print them out.
What does the Butterfly say?

Maybe this should be my Christmas card

I also like a non-Christmas Holiday card, this might work.

The images can be simple too.

Plaid flowers are fun

Let me share your blog with my friends.

One of the things I really enjoyed about the 30 day Challenge was getting to see work and blogs by fellow artists.  While I am on vacation I would love it if you would link your blog here for others to see.  Is this kind of like having you do my work for me?  Little bit.  However, there are only 50 spots.  If the collection gets too big, you won't get noticed.  If this gets full I'll start another collection.  So share this with your blogger friends and see if we can get 50 blog connections here.  Read the description below and link with the blue button.

She Listens

She Listens, acrylic, 40 x 30

She Listens, has come back from the photographer and Giclee prints are available on paper and canvas.  My printer does a wonderful job and the prints on canvas look just like the original painting (without all the cost). The prints on paper are a very reasonable alternative.

You can find this Giclee and others on my website.  You do know I have a website, right?

She Listens is available $2,800.

Vacation! 1 more chance to enter

25 of the 30

The final post to the 30 day challenge is a collage of paintings.  I picked 25 I wanted to highlight.  If you would like to learn how to make this collage and see the other collages  Leslie Saeta gives instructions in her post today.

Some of my small early oils, now dry went to the Key West Art Center yesterday.
Smathers Beach and Blue Lagoon framed

Don't they look polished in the plein air frames?

I guess this gives you one more chance to enter for the give away.  I will draw the name tomorrow.  But as the title of this post says,
 I am going on vacation!

I will announce the winner, then you probably won't hear from me for a while.  Winning pic will probably ship when I return.

I am having a give-away!

Here is how it works.  Leave a comment on my post and you will be entered to win.  I am going to give away one painting a week for the duration of the 30 Day Challenge, (the month of September, 2013). If you comment daily on my posts then you can be entered up to 7 times to win.  The winner will have their choice of any unsold painting of the week.

Those of you who subscribe by e-mail to this blog can either reply to the e-mail, or comment and you will be entered.

Please note this drawing is going to be casual.  I am not hiring any fancy auditing company to do the selection.  It is going to be a plain old pieces of paper in a bowl thing.

If you are the winner your painting will be shipped to you after it has dried, which can take one to two weeks with oils
